FREE your body. FREE your mind.
Sprained ankle. Bruised ribs. Back spasm. Broken wrist. Back spasm. Tendinitis. Back spasm. Broken ankle. Torn hamstring. Shoulder tear. Rib out of place. Torn hamstring tendon (on the other side).
Back spasm.
Back spasm.
Back spasm.
This ^^^ used to be my life.
Now, don't get me wrong, I spend a lot more time on my yoga mat, and a lot less time on the bars, in the dance studio, or doing insane acrobatics, but, let me tell you it FEELS GOOD that this is NO LONGER MY LIFE.
Do I think it is possible to DO all the CRAZY INSANE MOVEMENTS you want to be doing, AND not be consumed by injuries?
YES, ABSOLUTELY.
But it requires some attention, and intention.
Someone asked me the other day, "do you recover slower now that you're older?" So I thought about it, and I realized - NO! WAYYYY FASTER.
A back spasm used to knock me out for a week (or more!). Now, IF that even happens in the first place, I can ease it up within hours.
How is this possible? Is it because of...yoga? Lots of physical therapy sessions? Emotional intelligence? Breathwork and meditation? Understanding my body's responses? Feeling into the pain and working with it?
YEP.
ALL.
If I feel a pain in my body, I can pretty much hit the mat and clear it up on my own. If it's something more persistent or chronic, I can connect with it somatically, talk to it, address the emotions it's experiencing, and FREE IT UP.
Now, if you're not used to this, you might think I've gone a little woo-woo on ya (and I definitely have lol), but the thing is- THIS IS THE WORK. THIS IS FREDOM, POWER, WHOLENESS.
See, our body is like a map of our internal world. So, if your body is really tight and stiff, your internal world is probably quite strong, but also stuck. If your body is really flexible and open, your internal world is probably quite adaptable, but also flimsy. (Yes, this is TRUE.)
The goal for a healthy, sustainable, powerful body is to have a balance of STRENGTH, and FLEXIBILITY. But the way we do that isn't just about stretching, or conditioning the body - it is also about doing this work internally: within the mental, emotional, and energetic spaces.
If we create this healthy system - ANYTHING is possible:
IF you can move your body in all possible directions/rotations/variations- attaining any new skill, is totally doable.
IF you understand your own limitations and habits, easing and re-strengthening any injury, is totally accessible.
IF you can feel your emotions/energy in your PHYSICAL body, you can process your blockages FULLY.
IF you understand (to some extent) how all this works, you can actually listen to your TRUTH and move forward in connection with that FREEDOM, meaning literally WHATEVER YOU WANT in your life - can be done.

Because here's the thing: my goal is not to help you be the "perfect yoga teacher", or to be like me, or to learn how to do anything specific, OTHER THAN WHAT IS ACTUALLY BEST FOR YOU AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT.
Which means, we've gotta take the time to look at the whole gamut of options.
We've gotta take the time to FEEL THEM in our bodies and in our experience.
